Philippine president’s trust, performance ratings up in Q2 survey

MANILA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — The trust and performance ratings of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos improved, while Vice President Sara Duterte’s ratings declined in the second quarter of 2024, according to a national survey by an independent pollster released Tuesday.
The OCTA Research Group nationwide survey of 1,200 adults from June 30 to July 5 showed that Marcos’ trust and performance ratings improved in the second quarter.
It noted that 71 percent of adult Filipinos trust Marcos, 2 percent higher than the 69 percent recorded in the first quarter. His performance rating climbed by three points to 68 percent from 65 percent in the first quarter.
“It is also noted that this is the first time Marcos has registered a higher trust and performance rating than Duterte based on (OCTA) surveys in the last three years,” the OCTA Research group said.
However, Duterte’s trust rating slipped to 65 percent in the second quarter, three percent lower than the 68 percent recorded in the first quarter.
Duterte also saw a 60 percent performance rating, lower by 4 percent than the 64 percent recorded in the first quarter of 2024.
The survey noted that Duterte’s trust and performance ratings continue to trend downward for the second straight quarter in 2024. ■
