“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” tops North American box office for 3rd straight weekend

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) — Warner Bros. Pictures’ comedy horror film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” stayed atop the North American box office chart for the third weekend in a row with an estimated three-day cume of 26 million U.S. dollars, data from measurement firm Comscore showed on Sunday.
The film has grossed 226.8 million dollars in North America, pushing its global total to 329.7 million dollars.
Directed by Tim Burton, the sequel to 1988’s box office hit “Beetlejuice” stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara reprising their roles alongside new cast members.
Ranked second with a slight gap, Paramount and Hasbro’s animated science fiction film “Transformers One” opened to 25 million dollars in North America this weekend.
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s psychological horror film “Speak No Evil,” a remake of the 2022 Danish film of the same name, landed in third place with 5.9 million dollars on its second weekend for a North American cume of 21.5 million dollars. ■
